The Philips Avent Video Baby Monitor has an operating range of up to 50 metres indoors and up to 400 metres outdoors.
The actual range can vary depending on your surroundings and the materials between the baby unit and parent unit. Walls and other obstacles can reduce the connection range.
| Material | Approximate reduction in range |
| Wood, plaster, cardboard or glass without metal | 0–10% |
| Brick or plywood | 5–35% |
| Reinforced concrete | 30–100% |
| Metal grills or bars | 90–100% |
| Metal or aluminum sheets | Up to 100% |
Wet or moist materials can also cause significant interference and may reduce the operating range substantially. In addition, floor heating, especially when combined with concrete, can greatly reduce connection range.
If the connection is frequently interrupted, see “Connection is often lost between baby unit and parent unit”
