Philips wants to offer consumers the 3D experience as an option, because some consumers may not want to pay extra for the 3D technology but still want to have access to the superior image quality and other features offered by our TV's from the 8000 and 9000 series.
This way, consumers who choose to do so can experience the 3D technology in an early stage of its development.
The upgrade pack contains the 3D glasses and 3D receiver, which you need to complete the 3D capability of your TV. You will not be able to use devices from other brands because they either employ a different technology or are not configured for an optimal performance.
