My Philips Epilator is not working

If your Philips epilator isn't working properly, there could be several reasons. Use the guide below to solve the issue.

Some Philips epilators only work when plugged in, while others are cordless and must be charged before use. Check the packaging or user manual to see which type you have.

Cordless epilators

For safety reasons, cordless epilators do not switch on while they are connected to an electric socket. Unplug your epilator from the electric socket and try switching it on again.

Corded epilators

Corded epilators only work when plugged into an electric socket. Plug your epilator into an electric socket and try switching it on again.

Charging before first use

Before the first use, make sure that the epilator is fully charged. This ensures that the epilator will work correctly when you use it for the first time.

Low battery

If your epilator stops during use or runs slower than it used to, the battery may be low. Check the charging light of your epilator. If it is flashing orange, it means the epilator needs to be recharged. Recharge your epilator. Refer to the user manual for charging times.

The electric socket is not working

Make sure that the electric socket that you use to charge or run your epilator is working properly. Try charging or running the epilator in a different electric socket to see if this works.

Power cable not connected properly

For corded models, make sure that the power cable is securely inserted into the epilator.

Use the correct adapter

Make sure that you use an adapter with the right specifications (5 V, more than or equal to 1.5 A, IPX4). If you do not have an adapter with the right specifications, you can buy one from the Philips web shop.

Overload protection activated

If something is stuck in the epilator head or if you press too hard against the skin, the device may shut off. Clean the head and use gentle pressure.

Overheat protection activated

Some models have a red light that flashes when the device overheats. Let it cool down for a few minutes before trying again. If the red light persists, wait longer.

Incorrect usage

Pushing too hard on the skin can trigger safety mechanisms or reduce performance. Use gentle pressure and glide the epilator slowly against the direction of hair growth.

Check the epilator head

Ensure that the head is clean and undamaged. A dirty or broken head can affect performance or cause the epilator to stop working.
