Is it normal for my Philips hair straightener to make a sizzling sound?

When the ION function is on, you will hear a sizzling sound coming from your straightener. The sizzling sound occurs when your straightener releases millions of ions from both sides of the straightener. These ions provide you with frizz-free, smooth and shiny hair. A strange smell may also occur; however, this is nothing to worry about and the straightener is safe to use.

Note: The Philips 8000 Series may release a loud sizzling sound. Do not be concerned as this is normal behaviour for this model.
