How to connect a mouse/keyboard to Philips TV

Published on 2017-07-10

Situation

To navigate on the screen an external mouse and keyboard can be connected to the TV

Checklist

Ensure that:

• The software on the TV is up to date

Answer

Use a normal plug & play mouse or keyboard with the following functionalities:

• At least a USB 2.0 connection

• Without special functions (like additional buttons, keyboards with touchpad or scroll functions)

• Conform the HID standard (usually this is mentioned on the box and/or in the manual)

Connect the mouse or keyboard

Plug the USB plug of the mouse or keyboard into the USB port on the side or back of the TV. The TV will automatically recognize the connected accessories. The mouse and keyboard can be used in the menu and within the Android app environment.

Note: not all Android apps support keyboard or mouse input.

Bluetooth mouse, keyboard or joystick

The TV supports the Bluetooth profile HID (Human Interface Device) to connect a Bluetooth device. This Bluetooth profile is mainly used for mice, keyboards and joysticks.

In order to successfully transmit data via a Bluetooth connection, the external device has to support the same Bluetooth profile. Verify the manual or manufacturer of the Bluetooth speaker to verify if the required HID profile and the related Bluetooth protocols are supported on the device.
