The experts suggest

  • Wide or focused light?

    Rolf Smeets

The width of the beam from any light bulb is largely dependent on its shape. From standard bulbs that have an almost spherical (360-degree) light distribution down to spots with a 25-35-degree beam angle. So keep in mind the width of the area you want to illuminate when choosing your luminaire....

  • The 'temperature' of white light

    Steve Janssen

White light can have different color 'temperatures', which is measured in degrees Kelvin (K). The higher the number, the cooler the light color - and vice versa. Candlelight temperature is about 2,000K, energy-saving lamplight around 3,000K and sunny daylight is more than 6,000K. Graphics on bulb packaging let you know if the light temperature is warmer (cozier) or cooler (more energizing)....

  • Energy-smart and cost-efficient lighting

    Steve Janssen

Lighting makes up a significant part of a household energy bill, and choosing the right kind can reduce annual costs up to a full 80-90%! If you want luminaires that are good for your pocketbook and the environment, select them from a 'green' range such as Ledino, Ecomoods or SmartSpot....
